Creating A Font

Once you have selected a true type font for Font Fiend to manipulate then you can start to use Font Fiend for it's primary purpose of layering on graphical effects to take a monochromatic font and turn it into something dazzling. Let's get our feet wet. Start the Font Fiend program and click on the "Set" menu heading. Choose the "Create Simple Font Set" sub-heading and you will get a dialog that allows you to choose a font type along with a font size. I would recommend a nice big font size for early experimenting - if you are running the demo version this will be locked down to a point size of 60. Click "Render" when you are ready to render and Font Fiend will create a font set containing the first 128 characters of the ASC II set. See the section on Unicode Files later in this documentation if you are interested in creating font sets containing more or less characters or to create a font containing foreign language characters you might be interested in rendering. Once you have created a font then you are ready to begin applying Font Effects!
