Sisters with Secrets

It is their toughest secret to live with. Faith and Kailey Putnam and Skyler and Lily Delia are your run of the mill high school students, or so they think. There is something that will either make them absolutely popular or make people terrified of them. These two families haven't always been friends; it has taken a lot of time and tolerance because they have very different personalities.

PUTNAMS
"Quit pushing the pointer." Exclaims Faith to Kailey who are both using an Ouija Board. "I'm not." "You always push the pointer. Hey, you want another Pepsi?" Kailey nods, Faith gets to her feet and heads for the kitchen. Kailey shouts to her, "What was your question?" Faith takes two sodas out of the refrigerator and shouts back to her, "If mom is happy!" Faith also rummages around for junk food. Unexpectedly, the pointer shifts to the letter 'W' by itself. Kailey begins to get flustered, "Um, Faith?" The pointer then moves to the letter 'I'. Faith responds with a bag of chips in her mouth, "What?" She takes off into the living room with soda, chips, cookies, candies, and other goodies. Kailey informs her, "The pointer moved by itself." Faith gives her a blank stare. "I'm serious! It spelled 'W' 'I'." Faith thinks either she pushed the pointer or it's trying to spell wimp, but Kailey knows what Faith's thinking. "I hardly touched the pointer. Watch." Kailey places her fingertips on the pointer and nothing happens. "I forgot the ice cream." Faith walks toward the kitchen to get it, the pointer moves to the letter 'T'. "It moved!" Faith turns back around toward her paranoid sister, and then the pointer moves to the letter 'C'. "Did you see that?" Faith is in disbelief, "I'm not sure what I saw." The pointer moves to the letter 'H'. "Witch. It spelled witch." "Are you sure?" "I'm not dyslexic; I think I know what W.I.T.C.H spells." That didn't exactly answer Faith's question if her mom is happy or not, so they try again. They ask the question, put their fingers on the pointer and wait for an answer. Nothing happens. "Unbelievable. I mean I know Mom is in heaven, but I just wish I can actually see and talk to her, ya know? If she were the one controlling the board she would say yes or no. She can't be happy without being able to talk to us." Kailey knows exactly how she's feeling.
The girls hear the sound of rain pelting on the windows and a crack of thunder, the lights flicker on and off quickly and eventually the lights stay on. They see a fascinating, moderately bulky, antique like book about the size of a dictionary of the largest Harry Potter book. "Where'd that come from?" Kailey asks her sister, "I dunno." They read the cover The Book of Shadows with a picture of a pentagram in the center. They open it up and its pretty much a witch's; there's a diary of spells, chants, rituals, and invocations. Kailey is a little cynical about the idea of witchcraft being in their lives. Kailey walks up to her bedroom upstairs and shuts the door behind her. "Give me a break, none of this is real. I'll show you." Faith says. She reads an incantation, which she thinks, is just an ordinary poem, but she is sadly mistaken.
"Hear the words of the witches
That holds the greatest of elements
The power of the witches rise
We will witness before our very eyes
When the most unlikely become friends
The greater the power transcends."
She hears a shriek coming from her sister's room, hearing her sister's thoughts strangely, "What's going on? Where am I?" Faith pumps her arms faster and faster. She opens up the door to Kailey's room to see no one. "Kailey? Where are you?" Faith sees a fuzzy pink pen levitating in the air with a mind of its own. "Oh, this can't be good." Faith's scared, "Kailey? Is that you?" "Yes!" Says Kailey whose voice echoes. "How did this happen?" Faith explains to her about the incantation she read in the Book of Shadows. "You mean a spell? I knew this was a bad idea. Help me, please help me, Faith."

Faith sets off back downstairs where she left the Book of Shadows and pages through the book faster and faster. "Dammit! Where is it? There has to be something here." Faith, going through it, reads off the names of different spells, "Love Spells, Fertility Spell, Vengeance Spell. I don't see anything for visibility, but here's something that sounds interesting. Elements. Earth Element would receive, Premonition: the power to see into the future or the past; Mind Reading: the power to read what people are thinking; and Levitation: the power to float into the air. Water Element would receive, Telekinesis: the power to move visible objects with your thoughts; Invisibility: the power to not be seen by anyone, Chronoseizure: the power to stop time into the direct environment, and to freeze people and objects. Air Element would receive; Glamour: the power to temporarily change appearance into another human or change clothes at a whim, Duplication: the power to copy oneself multiple times; Teleportation: the power to go from one place to another in a flash. Fire Element would receive; Sensing: the power to sense others with powers around them; Pyrokinesis: the power to set objects or people on fire; Molecular Combustion; the power to blow up things with one's hands. Sounds like fun." Now that Faith has experienced and witnessed true magic, there is no denying it and she knows what's wrong, so she can tell her sister what's going on.
Faith goes back into her sister's room, "Kailey?" "I'm over here." Faith sees an indentation of Kailey's butt on the bed. "I think I know what the problem is. According to the Book of Shadows there are four elements; Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Each element has certain powers. Since you turned invisible you seem to also have the powers of teleportation and Chronoseizure." "What's Chronoseizure?" Faith tells her, "Basically, it's stopping an object or a person. Like pretend there was a shooting, you can probably stop bullets, if that ever does happen, hopefully you would've learned that power before then." Kailey doesn't think that's very comforting. "But as of right now, I'm more concerned about being visible." Faith isn't sure how to do it and so Kailey begins to panic. Faith attempts to keep her sister to calm down, "Breathe!" They both inhale and exhale deeply as if they were doing Lamaze. "You feel okay?" "Yeah." Faith isn't sure if she should call their father and ask how to make Kailey visible, she isn't sure if he knows about witchcraft. Kailey tells her that she overheard their parents saying something about magic a few days before their mother passed away. "You should call him." She has her father's number on speed dial and she waits for him to pick up. "Hello?" Faith begins to speak really fast, "Hi, Dad. Um, this may sound strange, but when Kailey and I were using the Ouija Board, the lights went out and we found this book with all sorts of weird stuff inside it about witchcraft and I read something from it and now Kailey's invisible." Their father on the other line exhales noisily. "I knew this was gonna happen one day." Kailey said nervously, "What's he saying?" Faith tells her to hush up. "Your powers are inherited. People usually hear of only women being witches, but that's not true. So, let's see. You say your sister has the ability to become invisible? That was from your mother and what powers do you have?" Faith tells her that she doesn't have any. "That's not true, sweetie. You have powers; you always have, just, once you read the spell in the first page, your powers became active. You must not have figured out how to use them yet. Since I never had the powers to become invisible, you will have to ask your mother how to reverse it. The only way to do that is to summon her, find the spell that reads To Invoke the Spirits. I hope all goes well." Faith hangs up the phone and tells Kailey all about what their dear old dad told her. "Okay, so go find a page that tells how to summon mom." Faith opens the book and flips through it until she finds a section entitled To Invoke the Spirits as instructed. "Okay, all we need are six white candles in the form of a circle, standing inside of the circle, holding hands, and saying the spell at the same time." The girls find six white candles, any size that they can find. Kailey asks, "A birthday candle?" "I guess mom and dad don't buy candles often." They place them in the form of a circle as told. Faith then holds out her hand, palms out so that her invisible sister can hold it. "Are you holding my hand?" Kailey responds, "Yes." They both recite the spell at the same time.
"Guardians of the Spirit realm hear and guide our plea
When the witching hour rings true, bring our mother to see.
Other souls who hear our call are not welcome in this place.
Only the one known as Sally Putnam may enter our sacred space."
Suddenly, a transparent figure of their mother appears without a wound from her car accident she once had that killed her, she looks good as new. Their mother is so happy that she finally gets to speak to her kids after all the years, well one of them, she isn't sure where Kailey is. "Right here, mom!" Once again, an object levitates in the middle of the room is being held by invisible Kailey. "Oh dear. I see you have discovered your power?" Kailey tells her, "Yes and I would like to be visible again." "Alright. I've been dead for so long it's hard to remember much about my powers that I haven't used since I was alive. Let me think. Kailey, have you felt like being invisible at all today?" She begins to ponder about what she had done throughout the entire day until she finally remembers, "Yeah, Stacy Becker made me feel super embarrassed." "Maybe that caused it. Since you felt like being invisible, you clearly became invisible. So now all you have to do is think of something happy." Kailey begins to think of Stacy getting a taste of her own medicine and Stacy the one feeling humiliated. Suddenly, Kailey is visible again. "You girls are so beautiful." She takes a minute to look at her young, mature witches, and they look at their mother, wishing that she wasn't dead, "I wish I can stay, but it seems as though I have done my job. I love you girls. Blessed be." Their mom vanishes into the spirit world, Kailey feels happy that she saw her mom but sad because the visit lasted for a short while, she begins to tear. Faith hugs her sister. "Think of the bright side, at least now you can spy on others and copy answers to tests."
DELIAS
Skyler and Lily know their lives will never be the same again. They are having a quarrel; Lily almost accidentally blows up Skyler with her hands but missed because Skyler who vanishes from the living room and into her bedroom, and instead of unintentionally blowing up Skyler, she blows up a vase where Skyler would have been.
Lily and Skyler suddenly stop arguing because they are too much in shock, Lily and Skyler play a game of Marco Polo so that Lily can find her sister. Lily follows her sister's voice. "How'd you do that?" Skyler shrugs, "I dunno. I was going to ask you the same thing. I saw something shoot out of your hands, got scared and now I'm here I guess. How do you explain what you did?" Lily has no idea about what's going on with their bodies, "Maybe it's hormones." Skyler thinks about what she just did, "Lily? Don't you get it? I can go anywhere in a split second and nobody will know where or how. Especially since we really don't know exactly how this happened." Lily assumes she is able to blow up things by anger, so she wants to experiment and find out, "Skye, make me angry." Skyler figures that she seems to be angry all the time so she wouldn't need help in that department. "Hey, just because my entire room is painted black and stuff, doesn't mean I'm always angry!" Skyler disagrees but she thinks of something that she knows will get her sister going, "You know your perfect little boyfriend Eddy? The one who says that he's always at his sisters? He isn't. Last time I checked, his sister didn't have blonde hair, pregnant and 5 foot 2." Lily doesn't believe her. "I confronted him and he said that if he were as pathetic as you are, he would've killed himself a long time ago." None of that's true, but her sister wanted her to get her angry, mission accomplished. Lily is so infuriated, believing her sister, but mad at her boyfriend, that again, she lifted her hands and almost accidentally blows her up, luckily, she disappears from in front of her and reappears behind her, and because Skyler moved, Lily accidentally blows up her bedroom lamp. "Hey!" Startling Lily by mistake and trying not to die, she hugs her sister. "I am so sorry. You know none of that I said was true, right? You did ask me to make you mad." Lily ask for forgiveness for accidentally almost blowing her up and she realizes that Skyler would never purposely hurt Lily's feelings, other people's feelings sure, but not Lily's. "So, we mysteriously have these weird abilities, now what?" Lily advises that since Skyler can teleport from place to place in an instant by thinking of it and being scared that maybe she and Lily could go to another country, "I have never done this on purpose and never with a passenger." "Well, there's a first time for everything." Skyler really doesn't feel like accidentally almost getting blown up again, so she grabs Lily's hand and concentrates really hard on going to Athens, Greece. Nothing happens. "What the Hell?" "I guess I'm not experienced enough. You do know what this means right?" "That we're gonna have to pay a huge fee for plane tickets?" Skyler tells her that at first they might have to, but as of right now, she has to somehow get scared whether she likes it or not, Lily tells her, "I want your ability, except I don't wanna have to get scared to do anything, because as we both know, I don't scare easy." Skyler most definitely knows and nods her head.
DELIAS AND PUTNAMS
The next day at Schaumburg High School, the Putnam's confess to their friend Tibby Russell that they're witches, she isn't taking it well. The Putnam's know how she feels, but they hoped she wouldn't overreact, Tibby then asks in a whisper, "What would you do if your friends say they're witches?" Faith puts herself in Tibby's shoes and responds, "I would say thank you for confiding in me with a secret like this and I accept it." Tibby thinks for a moment and realizes that she's right; she shouldn't judge her just because she has some supernatural abilities. Conversations bustle around them in a crazy mesh of laughter and cries in the hallway. Faith, Kailey and Tibby walk side by side one another, getting in the way of other people, discussing the Putnam's new lifestyle. "How did this happen?" Another friend of the Putnam's and a friend of Tibby is Missy Garcia who overheard them on the way towards them, "How did what happen?" Tibby whispers, "Don't tell anyone, but Faith and Kailey say they're witches." Missy thinks the whole think is pretty neat. "Cool. How did this happen?" Faith and Kailey tell them about the Book of Shadows, the abilities they discovered, and the summoning of their dead mother, and most importantly, they inherited it. Missy asks them, "Do you guys worship the devil?" Kailey isn't sure, "Our mom was a witch before she died and she's now in heaven. I don't think heaven will allow people that worship the devil in the golden gates. So, I think the answer to that would most likely be no." Tibby says, looking just as heartbroken as the Putnam's do, "I miss your mom. Do you think that maybe you can summon her again so that Missy and I can say hi?" Faith and Kailey look at each other and then back at Tibby, "I don't see why not." The girls continue walking down the hallway; Faith isn't paying attention to where she's walking and accidentally bumps into Lily who is talking to her friends, everything's knocked out of Lily's hands. Tibby says to herself in fear, "Uh oh." Lily turns around and looks at Faith head to toe in revulsion.
The school bell rings, which are warnings that students must be in their next class within the next few minutes, Lily tells Faith, "You've just been touched by an angel." Lily picks up the stuff that has been dropped onto the ground and wanders to her classroom. Tibby asks Faith, "Why didn't you do anything?" "I don't have any cool active powers that I can use against her. I only have premonition; only thing that's good for is preventing anything from happening is she tries something. And Kailey can turn invisible, but only by fear." Kailey says, "I'm amazed I didn't turn invisible then and there. The Delia sisters freak me out." They stop thinking about Lily and continue chatting to one another while heading to their next classes.
SKYLER DELIA
Skyler walks into her Fashion Class gracefully and everyone is already putting finishing touches on the clothes they are sewing together. Skyler says so full of herself, "Did I miss all the fun? Oh, wait. I am the fun." Not many people in the class like Skyler Delia, but the teacher adores her and her sense of style. Skyler is kind of a butt kisser when it comes to teachers, and sometimes she can get away with things because of it.
Today, she doesn't feel like doing anything, she's feeling drained because of all the energy she used from teleporting earlier, so she makes up an excuse and the teacher lets her off the hook. "Alright, Skyler but just this once." Skyler flips through a Supermodel Unlimited magazine and she notices Rachel Smith wearing a garment by Jovani & Sherri Hill. Wishing she could have it, the garment magically materializes on Skyler's body. Luckily, nobody witnessed Skyler using her supernatural abilities, Skyler looks down at her clothes, but wants to see it in a full-length mirror, so she looks at one in the corner of the room, sees one, stands in front of the mirror, and poses at as if she was a model, blowing her reflection a kiss. Her teacher walks by, gazes at her clothes and asks, "Weren't you wearing something else earlier?" "No." "Weird. I could've sworn you were. Alright." The teacher blows off her suspicion and goes back helping students making their garments.
Skyler just realized that with this power, she can make prominent, fashionable clothes materialize; she can make it look like she made it and get a good grade for it. She can't wait, so she asks her teacher if she can get a garment project out of her locker. "Sure. Be quick." Skyler brings her magazine with her and makes sure that nobody is in the hallway, watching her. Skyler flips through the magazine and sees and outfit she likes and it appears in her hand, she hurries back into her classroom. The teacher is very impressed with the dress, "Looks professional. Good job!"
FAITH PUTNAM
A shrill full of flutes and the honk of a tuba are coming from the inside of the music room. Faith, Tibby and Missy ease their way into the class without disrupting it, even though the Orchestra should be ready for their next class, Mr. Miller doesn't seem to care. There is a concert coming up on Friday, so they only have a few more days to rehearse. After a few more minutes of rehearsal, everyone finally finishes up, and in the meantime Faith and her friends begin vocal exercises by singing "Do, re, me, fa, so, la, te, do," going up the scale singing "I really love to sing" and so on. A bunch more students enter the big room along with their teacher.
"Hello Miss Putnam, Miss Garcia, Miss Russell. How are you ladies?" Faith, Missy and Tibby respond at the same time, "Fine thanks." They really enjoy their teacher's presence, it's rare that he's ever in a bad mood, and if he is, it's because no one is paying attention or when he gets nervous because of an upcoming concert, which is going to be on the same day as the Orchestra will be playing. The only reason why Faith and her friends decided to join Choir other than just because each other are in it together is because they're in a rock band; it's a garage band, but still a band. And they want to learn how to be better singers.
A girl, Megan Perkins who doesn't like Faith and her friends much says to Faith, "I hear you do the work of three men: Larry, Curly and Moe." Faith giggles, "Wow. That was lame. I thought you could do better. Too bad I refuse to engage in a battle of wits, as I will not take advantage of the handicapped." Megan sticks out her pierced tongue, showing off the stainless-steel barbell. Missy thinks the idea of having a tongue piercing is gross and stupid, "Germ central." Missy whispers to Faith, "I wish you had an active power where you can totally do something really mean to Megan." Faith jokes around, "Me too." Everybody is goofing around, waiting for the teacher to prepare himself for class, Tibby asks Faith and Missy, "Where are we going to rehearse?" Tibby tells them, "I guess we can do it at my house. I don't think my mom would mind."
Faith, Missy and Tibby are minding their own business, chatting with one another but then Faith abruptly stops talking and doesn't pay attention to her friends because she sees a weird flash in front of her eyes and then what seems to be a black and white video or something of Megan pouring a bottle of Mountain Dew into her backpack, then a flash again, seeing her friends. Faith doesn't know exactly why, but she feels that she must see what Megan's up to. Sure enough she sees Megan about to pour Mountain Dew into her backpack. Faith shouts so loud that her voice echoes off the walls, "Megan, stop!" Everyone in the class stop what they're doing and looks in Megan's direction, Megan freezes, still holding the bottle tilted over Faith's backpack, feeling super embarrassed. Missy and Tibby look at one another and then Faith, Tibby's amazed, "How did you know?" Faith is just as surprised as they are. "According to the Book of Shadows the person that is an Earth Element has the ability of premonition. I think that's another ability of mine." The teacher is disappointed in Megan's intention, but isn't too surprised because all Faith and Megan do is argue and tease each other, he sends Megan to the principal's office.
LILY DELIA
In Lily's American Literature class, they've been reading one of Lily's favorite authors; Edgar Allen Poe and their assignment was to write a story similar to the one's they've read of his then today they'd have to read the story. Lily likes Poe for the simple fact that they are similar, they have a similar past.
Both their parents split up, his mother died of tuberculosis, her mother committed suicide. Poe started heavily drinking, Lily sporadically underage drinks, but nobody dares tattles on Lily. They both become easily violent and irrational, but Poe only does that when he drinks too much. But unlike Poe, Lily has a sister who cares about her and will do anything for her, while someone else raised Poe's half-sister, so he doesn't see her like Lily does hers. Only difference really is that she doesn't feel she wants to be a writer and she wasn't adopted.
The teacher calls Lily's name to read the story she wrote, but the teacher mid-way had to stop her because it was too gruesome for the class. She isn't sure what she should do, so she asks Lily to go to the Principal's Office, to bring the story to him and have him read it. Lily knows it's a bit much, but the assignment was to write similar to Poe, which she did, but she also added stuff she experienced, for example; the character in her story committed suicide.
Lily does as asked, she brings the story and herself to the principal's office, knocks on his door, and he says, "Entr?e." She enters; the principal is sitting in his very large chair, facing the window, looking out and turns around. "Ah, Miss Delia. What can I do for you?" She hands him the story that she had told the class; he reads it, puts it down and tells her, "Well, you are quite the little bard. It's a little...disturbing, but very poetic. I have known you for a long time and I realize that you have a lot of issues to deal with and I'm glad that you're writing down your feelings and experiences down on paper and not being abusive and whatnot, but I think you should visit the school psychiatrist." Lily doesn't like psychiatrists; they don't help, although she doesn't let them. She just feels that writing down her feelings is her way of dealing with her issues, he doesn't know it, but she is abusive sometimes...to herself, and verbally and emotionally to others, and again, nobody has to guts to tattle on her. The principal still recommends her to visit the psych anyway, Lily hates when she tells adults how she feels, she's so infuriated that she looks at the pen that's in the principal's hand and it explodes, ink goes all over the principal and his desk, and looks at the slip of paper he was about to write on and the paper then bursts into flames. She really likes these new abilities she has. Her sister teleports by fear, she uses her newfound pyro abilities when she's angry. Lily walks out of the principal's office, leaving him trying to get rid of the fire with a nearby fire extinguisher, and on her way out, Lily can hear the principal panic.

KAILEY PUTNAM
Kailey's in her Biology class, which she absolutely hates, bored as she is, she drifts off to sleep, luckily she's in the back row, nobody really pays much attention to those in the back row. After a while, the teacher finally notices the sleeping witch and shouts her name several times, but she doesn't respond. Everyone face Kailey and are snickering and smiling and then a student sitting next to Kailey nudges her, Kailey wakes up frightened and strangely the projector screen the teacher is using to show PowerPoint presentations rolls up really fast. Suddenly, nobody is laughing. Kailey wonders if she did that. She thinks about what Faith had read in The Book of Shadows. Water Element has the ability of Invisibility, which she discovered earlier and Telekinesis, which must be the power she has just now discovered, also Chronoseizure: Freezing something or someone, like stopping time. 'I wonder when I'm going to get the freezing power.' She thinks to herself. The teacher and class have no idea what happened, but one boy, Jared Frank jokes around, trying to get everyone back into a lively state by saying, "Uh oh, I think the classroom's haunted." Everyone laughs everyone but Kailey. The teacher has no idea what had happened but she still looks at Kailey and gives her the I expected better from you shake of the head.
SKYLER
Skyler tells her friends about a party she's going to have at her house on Friday night. Her parties are as popular as Prom. She and her friends always feel they have to buy new clothes, so they decide to go to Woodfield Mall and shop at their favorite stores. Eventually, word got around fast like wildfire at school about Skyler's party and so everyone drops their plans to go to it, invited or not.
Skyler and her friends do as they had planned; they go shopping. They all get manicures at Nail Perfection, shop at XXI Forever and Victoria's Secret. Skyler is in the dressing room of Victoria's Secret, trying on clothes, and about 20 minutes later, she comes out; everything she's wearing matches perfectly, from nails to handbag to kicks to Victoria's Secret underwear. Her friends are all gawking and saying things like, "What a babe!" or "Ay dios mio!" A girl strolls out of the dressing room that's next to Skyler with a handful of clothes, can't stop herself from staring at the erotic Italian witch, while she spins around looking at her reflection in the mirror. Skyler notices her looking at her ass. "Were you looking at my ass?" The girl blows Skyler a kiss and walks away buying the clothes that are in her hands, Skyler is a little disgusted, be feels a little good also because apparently everyone thinks she's hot, guys and girls.

Skyler and her friends go to the cashier to pay for their clothes, once she rang up Skyler's clothes; her Credit Card is maxed out, she feels really embarrassed at first, and her friends tell her that everything's going to be okay. The cashier gives her back her card and takes Skyler's clothes to hang it up, Skyler tells her friends to meet her at Armani Exchange, one of her friends asks her, "Why, what will you be doing?" Skyler tries to distract her friends by telling them that she's going to make friends with the girl that hit on her, they don't understand, but they're not going to argue with the "Goddess of Elegance and Spite" as they call her, but they leave the Spite part out when with her. The friends leave Victoria's Secret and Skyler really, really wants the wardrobe so she imagines herself wearing it and it appears on her body as it has before. She looks around the place to make sure nobody's watching, instead of going out of it through the doors of Victoria's Secret which has the security panels that go off when you're shoplifting, she teleports out of Victoria's Secret and into the dressing room of Armani Exchange where she told her friends to meet her at.

On her way out of the dressing room, she notices her friends looking through the racks of clothes and shouts, "Hey!" They all are looking at her from head to toe, wondering how she got the clothes that she couldn't afford. "How, how did you afford to buy that outfit?" Skyler lies by saying; "Daddy wired the money to me?" They bought the lie even with the obvious sound of deceit and they go do more shopping for clothes, regardless if Skyler has money or not.
PUTNAMS & SKYLER
Faith and Kailey are hanging out in the hallway in front of their lockers, looking at a distance a guy that Faith has had a crush on since Sophomore Year, but she has grown up and looks hot now, no more braces, she knows how to apply makeup and she wears clear contacts covering her Emerald colored eyes for sight. All she has to do is just have the courage to talk to him without embarrassing herself, he is her type of guy; they both are in a band, like the same music, pretty much enjoy the same genre of movies, and he's a genuinely nice guy, she's not into sports too much, but she can make an exception for a jock like him. Kailey tells her, "It'll be okay, trust me, he'll like you." "What if he doesn't'?" Kailey jokes around with her, "Then can I have him?" Faith punches her in the shoulder playfully, they both smile, Faith slowly inhales and exhales about ready to do something she never thought she'd be able to do, talk to Adam Thompson, if that works out, perhaps they can date. "Okay, I'm ready."

She slowly walks up toward him, about ready to speak when suddenly; Skyler comes up behind Adam and covers his eyes, "Guess who?" Kailey watches from afar feeling bad for Faith and is really mad at Skyler. Faith feels her heart fall to the ground and walks back toward her sister with her head hanging. Adam faces Skyler, she wants to kiss him but he resists, "Skyler. Come on! You cheated no me, remember?" "That wasn't cheating." "You and Scott, one of my best friends were under the covers, half naked and your lipstick was all over him." She shrugs; it doesn't seem to faze her. Faith and Kailey overhear, they aren't surprised that Skyler would cheat, but Faith's relieved that he's not interested in Skyler.

Skyler walks away and Faith is going to try again to talk to Adam, Adam is looking in his locker for something, so Faith is about to tap on his shoulder to get his attention, but once again, she's interrupted. Tibby and Missy are running up to her, shouting something really fast that it's muffled, too muffled to understand. Faith doesn't want them around right now. Adam grabs what he needs from his locker, sees his friend, "Yo, D!" and walks with him. Tibby shows Faith a flyer that reads:
Battle of the Bands.
Anybody Can Try Out.
Thursday: 7:00 p.m.
Faith always wanted to try out at a Battle of the Bands event, but she's a little sad about the whole Adam thing. She grabs the flyer from Tibby's hand, stuffs it in her pocket. Tibby and Missy ask Kailey, "What's with her?" "She likes Adam, but everyone keeps getting in her way to talk to him." The girls feel bad they got in her way but are also happy that she found the confidence to talk to Adam. "It's okay you guys. There's always next time." The girls try to help Faith not feel so down in the dumps and talk about where they're going to rehearse, music always makes Faith happy. They all agreed on rehearsing at Tibby's house.

THURSDAY: PUTNAMS & DELIAS
Two hours before the Battle of the Bands event at Schaumburg High School; everyone set things up in the gymnasium; the stage, the speakers, everything. Only thing band performers need to do is set up their drums and other equipment. Performers are lined up in a row awaiting their turn, and getting nervous by the judge's scores. Faith, Tibby and Lily see Kailey sitting at the top row of the bleachers holding up a sign that reads "Go Piercing Love!" The older, male judge said with a bored sounding tone of voice, "Next." Faith and her friends set up their equipment and Faith tells the judges, "Hi, we're Piercing Love." They play a rock song that's a combination of an Aerosmith song and a Led Zeppelin song, while playing, the girl's notice the judge's writing down comments or something on their pads of papers. Skyler and Lily are watching the band, not liking on how well they're playing. Lily wants to blow up Faith's guitar but since Faith has the ability to read minds, she knows about what she wants to do and sings the wrong lyrics to get her sister to help her out
Kailey use your ability
Trust me and do it now
Lily is sensing a lot of hostility
Do your thing and we'll take a bow
Lily somehow senses that Faith and Kailey have supernatural abilities, and they sense her wanting to use some on her and her sister, sure enough, Kailey uses her telekinetic powers to slam the double doors in their faces. Lily disregards the fact that she has discovered a new power, she's thinking about Faith and Kailey having powers too. Skyler doesn't believe her, "Shut up." "I'm serious!" Skyler thinks it's gross that the people they absolutely don't like are just like them, "Ew! We have the same thing as the freaks! Crap, now I'm a freak!" They don't feel like using their abilities on the Putnam sisters anymore, instead Skyler feels like sitting on the bleachers watching Adam's band perform. The judges give Piercing Love a total number of 28 out of 30. All the girls jump around, excited along with Kailey.

Piercing Love band takes their equipment off the stage and head to the bleachers next to Kailey, Faith hears Skyler's thoughts and tells Kailey who would only really understand her, "Skyler wants to call a truce against us, because she found out that we have powers." Tibby and Missy are worried. Adam's band gets up on stage and introduces themselves to the judges, "Hi, we're Sinful Temptations." They begin to play their song, "Black Magic Woman." It reminds the girls of them, except they're not doing black magic, Faith freaks out, worrying, "Oh, God. What if he knows that I'm a witch somehow? What if he thinks I'm a freak?" Tibby reassures her, "Come on, he can't think you're a freak if he's singing a song about you, unless the lyrics are mean." The girls listen to the lyrics and it's all amazing comments, Faith is hoping the songs about her right now, but doesn't want to ask him because if it's not, she doesn't want to confess just yet.

Once the song finishes, the judges give the band all 8's. All the girls on the bleachers applaud, all but Lily, she finds the band boring, she'd give them all 2's, if that. Adam gets off the stage and before him and his band leaves the gymnasium, Faith figures she'd better have the courage to talk to him before she loses her chance forever, so she does as she plans to and talk to Adam Thompson.
Now that the Delia's and Putnam's know that they both have abilities, they wonder if they should be friends. Kailey Tibby, "If the Delia's, Faith and I have supernatural powers, do you think we're the only ones or do you think there are other witches in the school?" Tibby shrugs, "Anything's possible, as you guys have witnessed." "What should I do?"
Within the next few minutes, Lily and Skyler go over by Kailey, Tibby and Missy, not knowing what to say, Skyler compliments Tibby and Missy on the score the judges gave them. "Thanks." Skyler wonders where they learned their powers. Kailey tells her, "It's biological. I apparently have powers my mother used to before she died and Faith has powers our father does." Once Skyler and Lily heard that Faith and Kailey's mom died, they feel bad. "Our mother killed herself." Tibby, Missy and Kailey feel sympathetic; Kailey puts her hand upon Skyler's shoulder. Tibby asks, "What about you guys? Are your powers biological?" Lily tells them, "We honestly have no idea. It's possible."

On the boundaries of the gymnasium, Faith is writing down her phone number on Adam's forearm, they hug and she smiles brightly. Until she notices the Delia's sitting next to her sister and friends. Adam and his band are about to leave the gymnasium, on his way out Adam winks at Faith, she then forgets all about the Delia's and feels her heart melt.
FRIDAY: PUTNAMS AND DELIAS
The Putnam sisters ring the Delia's front door and with no big surprise, they see Skyler holding a martini glass in hand, with a dull look on her face, "Oh, it's you. Come on in." When Faith and Kailey come in to the Delia's house, they see Megan Perkins and Stacy Becker watching Gossip Girl on CW, hogging most of the couch, Skyler wants to sit and watch. "Move your asses, bitches!" Skyler squeezed in between them on the couch. Faith and Kailey stick close to one another, looking at the chaos going on in the house; loud music that the neighbors could hear it, underage drinking, people smoking weed and cigarettes, boys escorting girls upstairs. It's not the Putnam's cup of tea, but they don't want the Delia sisters to hate them anymore, so they try to blend in as much as possible, with having at least a little pride.
Suddenly there's a scream coming from upstairs, everyone stops what they're doing and turn off the music. A girl comes running downstairs and tells everyone that something is wrong with Lily. They all rush upstairs at once, the banister almost breaks and suddenly they see Lily jumping up and down in a really weird motion facing the wall where her crucifix is hung upside down, she hears everyone worried, standing outside of her doorway. Lily turns around and suddenly says something in Latin and finally shouts, lifting up her arms, "I am Lucifer!" And suddenly the curtains in her room mysteriously catch on fire. Everyone runs except Skyler and the Putnam's. Once everyone leaves, Lily just starts to laugh so hard she has trouble breathing. "I always wanted to do that!"

Jennifer says:
Umm....finish the story before you enter it into contests! Seriously, though, the big flaw so far is that you are "telling" us everything and "showing" us nothing. It's the difference between listening to someone give a synopsis of a movie and actually watching it yourself. Let your story tell itself through your characters' actions, words and thoughts. It will be much more engaging.
